Lessons Learned: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be remembered as one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States. Its significant toll did more than just overwhelm us emotionally, it reminded us all, from the general population to highest government official, that we must be prepared to react when the worst hits. Now that the waters have receded and the Gulf Coast’s return to normalcy is underway, what can we take away from it all? Most of all, we must learn from what went right and what went wrong so we’ll prevail when the next challenge arrives.

Dustin Dowdy, Southern Company
Greig Fennell, Sprint Nextel Communications
James Mehaffey, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana

Moving Forward with Strohl Systems
The main focus of the 2006 International User Group Conference will be on the future goals, direction and product releases of Strohl Systems. We’ve had a long and successful past…from the original DOS release of LDRPS in 1988, to the first UGC in 1990, to the limitless power of today’s Web Hosting, we’ve reached new heights in the BCP industry.

Our development focus has been inspired primarily by our customers' enhancement requests and recommendations, the insight of our TAG members, Strohl Consulting Services and other business continuity experts. We continue that trend as we work with your suggestions in developing the most powerful and innovative releases of LDRPS, NotiFind, BIA Professional and Incident Manager to date. Come see what we have in store for the future…it will pave the way organizations just like yours plan for and track business interruptions.

Pandemic Planning as Part of your BCP
With the threat of a bird flu pandemic looming, it is crucial that your business has plans in place that will minimize the impact of an outbreak. Whether your employees are directly affected, or your delivery and supply chains are compromised, there are many ways that a pandemic can harm a business. Today’s special session is designed to help you incorporate pandemic planning into your company’s business continuity plan. Issues to be discussed include how to plan for the impact of a pandemic on your business, what resources should be allocated to protect your employees and customers, and how to communicate to and educate your employees.
Bob Cornelius, Constellation Energy

“A lot of the features we have been asking for such as the ability to put secondary and tertiary contacts in call trees and making the interface simpler, more intuitive and more flexible.”

- Al Parso, First Republic Bank
